Ion source developments for stable and radioactive ion beams at Ganil

چکیده
Since now many years, the Ganil ion source team deals with high charge state and radioactive ion beam production. Concerning radioactive ion production, the recent results obtained, in collaboration with the ISN Grenoble group, with the 1+/n+ method drove us to develop a new concept of ecr ion source for monocharged ion production. The results of the first tests of this source are given. This new idea for the construction of ecr ion source can be applied to multicharged ion production. Concerning the high charge state ion beam production, a new source called SUPERSHYPIE has been built that allows to increase by a factor 2 the length of the hexapole of an ECR4M source. This new concept has just been started and has produced arround 50 nAe of Ar . The first results of this new source are presented. Introduction For high charge state stable ion beams and for radioactive ion, two new sources have been built with new concepts for the setting up of the magnetic configuration. The first ion source, called SUPERSHYPIE, is an upgrade of the ECR4M source and allows an increase of the plasma volume in the axial direction. The second source called Mono1000 is dedicated to the production of monocharged radioactive ions as part of the 1+/n+ program. 1 The SUPERSHYPIE ion source

SPIRAL2 (Système de Production d'Ions Radioactifs Accélérés en Ligne) is a research facility under construction at GANIL (Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds) for the production of radioactive ion beams by isotope separation on-line methods and low-energy in-flight techniques. A resonant ionization laser ion source will be one of the main techniques to produce the radioactive ion beams. G...

SPIRAL2 is a new European Radioactive Ion Beams facility being constructed at the GANIL laboratory (Caen, France). It is based on a High Intensity CW multi-ion Accelerator Driver (Superconducting Linac), delivering beams to a High Power Production system (converter, target, and ion source), producing and post-accelerating Radioactive Ion Beams with intensities never reached before. The major co...
متن کاملRadioactive Ion Beam Facilities in Europe: Current Status and Future Development
The production and acceleration of Radioactive Ion Beams (RIBs) is today an area of intense interest. The history and development of RIB facilities in Europe is presented, with discussion of both the “in-flight” and “ISOL” methods used at different laboratories. The current status of present developments like the SPIRAL II facility at GANIL and the FAIR in-flight facility at GSI are briefly rev...

متن کاملPermanent Magnets under Irradiation and Radioactive Alkali Ion Beam Development for Spiral 1
Up to now, eighteen Target Ion Source Systems (TISSs) have been built and used for the production of radioactive ion beams on SPIRAL 1 facility, based on the IsotopeSeparator-On-Line (ISOL) method. The TISSs are composed of thick carbon targets and of fully permanentmagnet Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources (ECRISs) of the Nanogan III type. After irradiation and a decay period of two year...
